Wheelchair users

The castle gardens are accessible for wheelchair users. However, do please consider the fact that the paths can become quite muddy after a heavy downpour. The castle itself is unfortunately difficult to access for wheelchair users.

 

Dogs

Dogs are unfortunately not allowed into the castle and the gardens. However, dogs on leads are allowed to walk around the estate.

 

Route description

 

Route by car

From the South via Arnhem (Velperbroek roundabout; A12).

Middachten Castle can be reached from the Velperbroek roundabout, travelling towards Zutphen (A348). Take the “De Steeg” exit after approximately 7 km. You will see the signs for "Kasteel Middachten" (Middachten Castle) when you enter the village, which will take you to the car park near the castle gardens.

From the North via the provincial road from Dieren to Velp.

Middachten Castle can also be reached via the provincial road from Dieren to Velp. Once you have left the village of Ellecom, after passing the meadows and several driveways on your left, you need to take the first main turning on your left. This is the “Smidsallee”. You will find the car park near the castle gardens after around 500 meters on your left hand side.

 

Route by public transport

Middachten Castle is very easy to reach by public transport. Bus line 43 will take you to De Steeg from NS Station Dieren and Arnhem. You need to get off at the Middachten stop at the Middachterallee. The castle is within walking distance from this stop.
